The halt on further increase of toll charges, fuel price, and reduction of road tax for vehicles are steps in the right direction to control inflation which has been on the rise in recent times.

The action taken by Pak Lah's government is commendable and shows that he is always concerned about the poor. He is putting into practice what he preaches unlike other leaders who practise what practice will benefit them more or their cronies.

However there must be a concerted effort to ensure that essential food items are available to the poor and needy at fair prices all the time for which constant price monitoring by authorities is sincerely required.
