The fact that the Malaysian authorities have allowed malaysiakini to continue publishing their online news shows that the government respects individual views and ideas. It will not censure varying opinions or curtail dialogue as long as they do not incite hatred.

This is prove of a mature society and although Malaysia has a long way to go, I believe we are very much ahead of some of the more conservative governments. Perhaps Dawud is not used to this kind of dialogue.

No one person has a monopoly on information or opinions. It is therefore depends on the maturity of the readers to form their own opinion. Unfortunately, it is only the West which has allowed this more freely and thus have allowed themselves to innovate and develop into critical thinkers, scientists and inventors.

In Malaysia, sadly, we sometimes rely too much on rumours and react illogically but this is the fault of government policies which favour non-transparency.

Human rights are not developed to suit the needs of the country. They are based on a universal believe that we are all created equal before God and therefore have basic rights on how we are to be treated.

No one religion or nation should have a monopoly on human rights. It is wrong to say that Malaysia's own human rights are gradually becoming more Islamic. Human rights are the basic inalienable rights of every human being.

As long as you believe we are all created equal and that there is a God, then we should treat every individual with respect, dignity and humility.

Dawud, I am not sure how long you will stay here, but while you are here perhaps you should have a more open mind to learn and to try to understand rather than wanting to be understood.
