I refer to the letter Days of the West numbered . The writer should stop glorifying Azahari Husin. Azahari was no better than Chin Peng. Both were terrorists, willing to kill innocents when they could not persuade others peacefully that their twisted ideologies were better than the status quo.

In fact Azahari wanted to subvert elected governments in Southeast Asia through terrorism. Azahari was no hero - he was a coward who blew himself up when he knew he could not escape. He would have been braver if he dared to face the families of his victims.

He brought shame to Malaysia and all its citizens. Everyday the international press would refer to him and Nordin Top as the two Malaysians that formed the lynchpin of JI in Southeast Asia. Malaysia is now known as a place where terrorism is fermented. I look forward to the day when Nordin Top is captured and brought to justice

It is sickening to hear Azahari's sister suggest that it was better for him to be shot dead than to be caught and brought to justice. Terrorists deserve no mercy as they showed no mercy to their victims.

I would also suggest that the families of these men be made to pay for their crimes. Only then will suicide bombers think twice about the implication of their actions. If their family members and relatives are brought to justice for the crimes of a suicide bomber, this will change the calculus in the suicide bomber's mind.
