I must say that when I saw the pictures of the Chinese woman in the nude doing ear squats at a local police station, it reminded me of the infamous American female guard at the Abu Gharib prison who used a dog chain on a hapless Iraqi prisoner.

The video clip pictures must have collectively shocked the nation. After all, a uniformed female policewoman in abusing her power in humiliating and dehumanising a female detainee.

But somehow I am not surprised by this humiliating episode for wasn't our former deputy prime minister given a black eye while in police detention? If a deputy premier can suffer such a cruel fate, then what about the others who are nobodys in society?

How can we criticise other nations on their human rights record if we don't practice upholding human rights values at home? A picture is worth a thousand words and this video of an atrocious act by our police personnel. will haunt our nation's conscience.

Needless to say, the pictures and clip will paint a poor image of our country as a tourist destination. The top brass of the police force must get to the bottom of this shameful incident and punish the culprits as a lesson to others.
