I refer to the letter Government doesn't deserve our services .
I completely agree with what the writer said in his letter. That is exactly what happened to myself. I got good results and yet the government rejected me and did not allow me to pursue my education at the university level.
My parents had to work extra hard and use up all their savings to pay for my education abroad as we didn't have a choice. Now, I've graduated and am working in the UK.
During my last visit back to Malaysia, I remembered taking to this lady and she was asking me if I would come back to Malaysia and serve the country. I honestly said to her, 'Why should I?'
The country and the government rejected me and treated me as a second-class citizen and now I should serve the country? That must be a joke.
Even though I am not a British citizen but I feel so much at home here. I have been treated equally, am entitled to health care and have the support of the locals.
Anyway, I suppose the there are lots of government-sponsored students who will go back and serve the country since the government has paid for their education.
