I refer to the letter Pensioners hit badly .
I think the government has forgotten about us pensioners. Maybe they think we are a burden to them. They forget the years of service we have given to them. My late husband has given the government thirty years of service. I now receive a pension of RM 490 per month. He was in the Division I category.
Early last year I was admitted to UM with heart problems and my bills were taken care off by the government until July 2005 when I had and eye operation. I was told by the hospital that I could claim from the government for medication purchased outside as this were not available in the hospital.
I submitted my bill of RM460 together with the necessary supporting forms duly completed and certified by the hospital. I stay in Shah Alam. I went to the Pension Division's office in Putrajaya to submit my claim and was told that I will be reimbursed in two month's time (according to procedure).
In the meantime, the cardiologist also prescribed a medication which the hospital did not carry stock of. Again, I filled in the necessary forms and submitted it to the pension office. The medication this time cost me RM160 a month. Every time I purchased the medication, I went to Putrajaya to submit my claims (it costs me money each time I go to and fro to Putrajaya).
To-date I have not received a single sen in reimbursement. Drawing RM490 from the pension office and spending a monthly RM160 on purchase of medication leaves me RM330 to see me through the month (not forgetting my transport cost to and fro to Putrajaya ) with about RM11 per day. What can I do with this money?
It is time that we pensioners be considered in whatever planning the government has for the future. Don't forget we all grow old and have to depend on our pensions to survive. My first claim was submitted in August 2005 for the the heart medication every month.
Since my visits and follow-up registered letter received no response, I wrote to the Ketua Pengarah a week ago. To-date have not heard from him. I hope this letter get the attention of the relevant authorities
