  • The Johor Baru MP and Backbenchers Club chairman Shahrir Abdul Samad says: 'Tun Dr Mahathir should be happy that his Vision 2020 is being upheld and maintained by the government, and should not get involved in other issues'.

How can anyone disagree with this statement? Dr M did have his share of decision-making and in ruling this wonderful country before. Now it is Pak Lah's turn and he is making very good decisions for the overall benefit of the nation rather than a few cronies.

The scrapping of the crooked bridge project may seem unwise superficially but if we look deep into the matter it is a very matured decision for this time when the country actually needs a huge financial platform for other more relevant and important projects.

We must understand that it is Dr M who started having grandiose ideas of building mega-projects without even thinking that these projects could be a huge burden on our country's economy. I am glad that Pak Lah is brave enough to actually take the big step in stopping the crooked bridge.

I really hope Dr M will stop publishing government documents on the Internet and let the present government navigate this wonderful country away from the destructive route he has chosen.

Our country's pride will be not upheld by building a crooked bridge and having an impasse with Singapore. It is only by making the right decision at the right time will the people of this country prosper with peace, justice and freedom.
