It comes as a surprise that Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his group - who are no longer in power - want to decide on any issue relating to the bridge episode. They need to allow the present government under the leadership of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to decide.

The era of the decision of Mahathir is already gone and he and his group need to realise it. Whether good or bad, let the present government make their decision. As far as I know, the present government has decided to abandon the bridge project and we need to accept and respect this.

Mahathir writing letters and showing official documents to prove his point is going against the basic principles advocated by Mahathir himself. If this happened during the Mahathir era, that person would have been remanded under the ISA and shamed, not unlike what happened to Anwar Ibrahim.

The police need to immediately take action against these people irrespective of whether they are past leaders or not. Mahathir should realise that to gain respect he needs to shut up and mind his own business. Whether Singapore is right or wrong or whether Malaysia is right or wrong no longer matters.

Every matter needs to be viewed within the current context. I admire the foreign minister for sticking up to his leader's decision. Let's allow the present government to do its job as mandated by the people of Malaysia.
