I read with astonished horror of yet another immature tirade by the past prime minister on the present administration, particularly his successor, Pak Lah.

A leader who has run a country (not least one who has supposedly gracefully retired) was supposed to have done it with wisdom, vision, strength of character and selfless service to its people. Not driven by ego, personal vendettas, the need to be recognised or rewarded or by some insecurity.

When will Dr M come to realise that running the country is no longer about him? It should not, and never should have revolved around him. It's about running an inclusive government attuned to the needs of its people. The fact that his past projects were overturned by the new administration attest to the fact that they were exclusive and self-centred - mere pet projects of one man driven by his own skewed vision of a country.

Pak Lah's dignified stance of silence only serves to show how these personal attacks from the ex-PM are nothing more than nagging. A true leader rises above all these irrelevancies and this goes to show that serving a country is no longer about personalities or self-interest. Kudos to Pak Lah!
