I refer to the letter Re-open probe into Syed Ahmad’s letter.
I think many will support re-opening of the case involving the allegations by ex-High Court judge Syed Ahmad Idid.
It’s downright disgusting what ex-emperor Mahathir Mohamad had done to the judiciary in 1988. If we cannot reverse the injustice done to former Lord President Salleh Abas, former Supreme Court judge George Seah and their colleagues, we should at the very least hold an enquiry and if they are exonerated, correct the record and provide full restitution for lost pay, pensions, etc.
In the case of the Syed Ahmad’s allegations, the government should immediately launch an investigation and prosecute if there is sufficient evidence. In fact, we should even prosecute Syed Ahmad if he were found to be fabricating allegations.
Pak Lah can, and must, do what he can to right all the multitude of wrongs Mahathir had wittingly inflicted on our nation and its peoples. People with stronger principles had their careers ended, and those weaker ones adopted the culture of immorality to stay alive.
We can't obliterate all the sufferings a lot of good people had to undergo, but we can correct records and make restitutions. Pak Lah, please do this.
By right this would make your stay as PM even longer, but if the realpolitik is such that you have to leave, by God, what a legacy you would be leaving our nation. The next person can only be thankful.
