Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has always been what most people would call, "a straight shooter". Always to the point and without mincing his words, Tun has always spoken his mind, right from the start of his political career, in the form of The Malay Dilemma to the latest outburst over his disagreement with the current policies undertaken by the Malaysian government, most if not all, made by Tun at some point in time.

To me, Tun is in a league of his own and there is no comparison between Tun and anyone in the current government. No one else has the vision and foresight that Tun has. I agree that right now, KLIA and Putrajaya may seem to be underutilised and some may even call them 'white elephants'. But in another 30 years time, KLIA and Putrajaya will be abuzz with activities. The same may be said for some of the other so-called 'mega-projects" undertaken under Tun's administration.

My point is Tun has always had the foresight that no one else had. Almost the entire world (including many current cabinet members) disagreed with Tun's capital controls during the Asian Financial Crisis but in the end, Tun's foresight proved right and even the IMF had to concede that they were wrong and Tun was correct.

Tun has retired and did make a promise that he will stay out from politics. Tun is already 81 years old and has served Malaysia for 50 years or so. Tun really deserves a break and to spend more time with his family as we are all mere mortals, including Tun.

All Malaysians hope that this matter can be settled and Tun's mind can rest assured that all is well in Malaysia. I believe that Tun wants the best for Malaysia and although some of Tun's projects have not succeeded in the past (the E-Village for example.), this was because Tun was let down by the people trusted to implement the said projects.

So, my point is this - what would prompt the Tun to suddenly make public attacks against the government? There must be something that Tun feels or knows the government is doing wrong and this will affect Malaysia adversely maybe not today, but in 10 years or more. The problem is what?
