I am very disappointed with Dr Mahathir Mohamad continuing to lambast his successor. Surely after 22 years in power and with the respect accorded to him, there are finer ways of managing differences.

Had the man accorded to the public at large what he is now expecting from the government in power, then he could take the moral high ground. But as he has become so self-righteous, this may be the God-given opportunity to cleanse our judiciary of the crisis and challenges it faced under his rule.

Let an independent commission look into all that was raised by the former judge who became a whistle-blower. His courage needs to be lauded and those who have misused power need to be brought to account including the former PM.

With all the accolades, the honourary doctorates and the institutes set up to foster his thinking, there has been no fair evaluation of Mahathir when he was in power. Now that he seems to be asking for it, I believe the present PM should provide a fair and balanced opportunity for him to be judged.

There is no need to be cowed by him. It is time he met his match and is placed squarely where he belongs. For far too long, people have praised him sky high and this has got into his system and made him particularly arrogant.

At a time in his life when he should give others a chance to do their best, he is not being helpful. Take him on, Pak Lah, for you can open issues that need deliberating in our society.
