I fully agree with the writer. No Umno leader, let alone the Umno PM or an Umno ministers will call on Umno delegates to transcend communal interest to realise Vision 2020. On the other hand, they would not hesitate to mention in their speech in front of the Umno crowd that whatever policy or action adopted by the government is for 'bangsa, negara dan ugama!

What about the other 'bangsa-bangsa'? 'Why then this double talk and asking the non-Malay component parties of the BN to transcend communal interests as though all the affirmation and one-sided policies of the government to 'memperkasakan bangsa dan ugama' are still not enough?

Why not for the sake of change say the same thing to the Malays and stop mentioning 'untuk bangsa dan ugama'? Unity programmes such as the National Service could, in fact, be better forged if these racially divisive words are not repeated time and again.

Also, the term 'bumiputera' and 'bukan bumiputera' which are equally insensitive and highly divisive should be done away with in order to bring meaning and show real sincerity on the part of the government leaders.
