It came as a surprise when PAS Youth chief Sallehuddin Ayub suggested that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad be made opposition leader. Thus, it came as a relief when it was revealed that the statement was made in jest. After all, how could it be? Someone who is politically unstable such as Dr M becoming spokesperson for the opposition?

But it came as a rude shock to see PAS leaders Mahfuz Omar, Nasharuddin Isa and Husam Musa relishing meeting with Dr M, the very person they detested and loathed not too very long ago.

As a Parti Keadilan Rakyat supporter, and someone who have always advocated the idea of cooperation and understanding with PAS including the DAP, I could not even begin to understand the rationale for PAS being involved in this meeting bearing in mind Mahathir's acts against Anwar Ibrahim.

It is embarrassing, ridiculous and suicidal for PAS to do this. Are they finding all means to get support? Is their grip on Kelantan that loose? I sincerely hope DAP was not involved in the meeting.

Please understand that this is not Islam-bashing but PAS-bashing and they would do well to ponder these legal sources of Islam:

'Lima taquluna ma laa taf'aluun - 'Why do you advocate things that you yourself do not practise? and 'Kul hal yastawiyallazina ya'lamuna wallazina laa ya'lamuun', 'Tell them, are they the same those who know and those who know not?'

Of course, the opposition should take advantage of any situation but to consort with the former prime evil minister himself while forgetting what has happened to Anwar besides sacrificing friends in the process, is nothing short of political immaturity.

Akhukum Fil Islam.
