I refer to this paragraph in M Sahaja's letter, entitled 'I must obey' Pak Lah - he didn't .
'I personally would not be happy if something I had given to someone is not looked after and is abandoned. Worse if it is a cabinet that I took 22 years to make myself that is allowed by the new owner to fall on me.'
M Sahaja must be one of the older Malaysians with a feudalistic mindset. For instance, Mahathir does not 'own' Malaysia, in any sense of the word. He is associated with its leadership for an extended period.
Through the second half of his tenure, Malaysia and many other Southeast and East Asian countries benefitted from a 'hollowing-out' and outsourcing of activities from the developed nations.
Mahathir helped us to capitalise on these systemic economic changes. But at a price and some would say a terrible price. The judiciary was completely 'shambalised' and still, perhaps, remains in tatters.
In fact, Mahathir is very good at getting things done but always at a price and with low transparency.
