Politicians around the world play a rather common trick to maintain political support.

Once they realise that they are going down politically, or they 'feel' or 'smell' that their political power are demising or threatened, they would 'suddenly' resort to act like a champion to fight for certain issues which are practically 'non-issues' under normal circumstances.

And most often, these politicians are sunset politicians who have to resort to such tactics to prolong their political careers.

But strangely enough in Malaysia, both Umno Youth No 1, Hishammuddin Hussein Onn, and No 2, Khairy Jamaluddin, are 'sunrise' politicians because they are young, charming, and have solid background and connections to advance their political future.

But judging from their performance in recent weeks, we get the impression that they are fighting for their political survival as they resorted to very unconventional ways to chide their BN colleagues publicly.

Either Hisham and KJ are competing to outperform each other, or they are acting in concert by collaboratively trying to humiliate their BN colleagues, or they are really facing the survival pressures and thus are given no choice but to resort to chide their own colleagues publicly, mind you, their own BN colleagues like Gerakan, Koh Tsu Koon, Wee Ka Siong, Ong Tee Keat, etc, none of whom are opposition members.

So, now, what is really cooking among Hisham, KJ and their BN colleagues? I would bet here that Hisham and KJ are indeed trying to outperform each other so as to tactically make the other one look like a sunset politician. In the process of fighting to be a party/Malay hero, they chose to drag in other BN colleagues intentionally or unintentionally for their own political survival.

In view of my understanding above, and in referring to their rather 'intermediate' positions in BN's political hierarchy, I believe that both Hisham and KJ are not racially biased, but are merely acting the 'bad-guy' role in a political show. Needlessly to say, this political show is in bad taste and should not be continued endlessly, otherwise both of them will be burnt badly.

While Hisham and KJ are now fighting to score every political point they could score, we could be ensure of one thing - that one of them is indeed a sunset politician, while the other one is strategically advancing and building his political empire. But who is the sunset politician? The voters can decide.

Can the voters decide to make both of them sunset politicians? Why not?
