Unfortunately, reports of profligacy amongst our elected representatives seem to be getting more and more common these days.
These elected office-bearers seem content to enjoy and even abuse the status and privileges that come with the position, rather than carrying out their duties diligently and selflessly.
More alarmingly, the authorities seem to take a laissez-faire approach in dishing out justice and making a clear example to the rest of our society.
The world is watching and it is a very bad example especially for our youths and the less privileged members to witness. This dreaded 'tidak apa' or 'close one eye' attitude, seem to surface every time such cases crop up and it does not reflect well on our society.
It is no wonder then that we are witnessing rising disrespect for the rule of law and increasing disenchantment amongst our youths, such as the Mat Rempit phenomenon.
