The outbursts of the Umnoputras on race and religion at the recent Umno general assembly frighten the ordinary peaceful and peace-seeking Malaysians of all races including the Malays. Yes, the Malays too. From the letters I read in this forum from very sensible and sane Malays, many of them, too, were worried by those highly seditious statements and outbursts at the assembly.

I think responsible political leaders, whether from the ruling party or opposition, must make police reports against those who made seditious statements so that these chaps could be charged for sedition. I am sure all Malaysians will welcome such action against these crude racists and religious fanatics.

S Samy Vellu, Koh Tsu Koon, Ong Ka Ting and others have been mercilessly attacked by the these ruthless chaps. They should seriously think of coming out of the Barisan Nasional and joining Barisan Alternatif under the stewardship of Keadilan to lead the country in the coming general election in 2007 or 2008.

Since Malays (including new Indonesian immigrants) form 60 percent of the population, the leading party in the coalition must be Malay-based so that the majority of Malays will have the confidence to vote for BA. Barisan Alternatif should make sure the mistakes of BN are not repeated ie, cronysim, corruption, abuse of power, etc.

The new leaders should have a programme to bring up the Malays up in a competitive environment so that they will have the knowledge and expertise to face the world in the present globalisation process.

The present policy of the NEP in 'providing' and not by 'working and earning' will not bring excellence to the bumiputeras. I don't believe in any race being intelligent or stupid. It is the training and exposure to the real world that maketh the man. It is heartening to note that more and more bumiputeras are beginning to realise this.
