As a Malaysian, I am thoroughly embarrassed about most of the things that go on in our country and what the country's leaders get up to. A lot of the latter is pure idiocy.

I wish to express my gratitude to Australian writer Michael Backman for his article and for stating what are sincere comments. I would love to think that our leaders can accept criticisms with an open mind.

If put to the vote, I think most Malaysians would agree with the Malaysia 'bodoh' comment with regards to the nature of our space 'experiments'. But what is more worrying is the international trade and industry minister's comment that she doesn't mind if the 'bodoh' comment comes from a foreigner who didn't know Malaysia.

I think the minister herself and all the other Umno leaders themselves are the ones who don't know Malaysia and the true feelings of a lot of Malaysians. How could these leaders know when all the mainstream media are controlled to only say good things about the government and Pak Lah?

All they can say is 'Malaysia Boleh' and 'Saya sokong'. Rafidah further said she would only be bothered if the Backman article was written by a Malaysian.

That is ridiculous because how on earth can a Malaysian write such an article and have it published in the mainstream mass media? Does the honourable YB think the major newspapers will gladly print it in their opinion/editorial pages?

I look forward to the day when the world can stop laughing about our country. The ball is in our court now and we should make it happen rather than just telling people to shut up.
