It has always amazes me how the Islamic religious authorities are able to track down a person especially converts who are Muslim when they die. They do so with the great accuracy and speed.

This has been demonstrated time and again when they appear at the mortuary just in time to claim the body of an alleged Muslim convert. The recent case of A Rayappan is another classic example.

Here we have the case of Rayappan and in the mind and hearts of the religious authorities he is a Muslim. But where were they when he reverted back to Christianity? Where were the Mais chaps to counsel him to return to their path? Was there no urgency to save this soul?

I think one can easily conclude that the Muslim religious authorities were never there - expect when he had already passed away. I think the job of these religious authorities is far more important and relevant when Rayappan was still alive.

Do we not think that it would be a great sin to bury a dead man as a Muslim when he has clearly renounced his Muslim faith when alive?
