While I welcome the move for a parliamentary select committee to go about drafting a set of ethics for our brethren whom we have elected to serve us and our nation, I caution the move to let only members of parliament sit and write the ethics.
There should be also suggestions and participation by the public and senior civil servants so that experiences in what is a breach and what is not can be shared.
As I always said, ethics is a funny word - we all like to say others lack it when it suits us. Just another committee coming out with yet more guidelines may not be enough if the drafting of the rules themselves are not formulated well.
