I refer to the malaysiakini report Selangor DAP kicks out chairperson .
DAP - which prides itself as a watchdog against the Barisan Nasional component parties and the policies and practices of the government - is now a pot calling the kettle black. The infighting within DAP looks set to cause the party to disintegrate.
The current crisis within the DAP whereby 14 out of 20 DAP Selangor committee members have voted to push out Ong Chee Keng - the chairman of the DAP Selangor state liaison committee - and to bring in Ean Yong Hian Wah, known to be closely-linked to Lim Guan Eng as its chairman shows the cronyism of Guan Eng.
This is further evident when DAP assemblymen Teng Chang Khim and Wong Zui Lin - who are not aligned with Guan Eng - were asked to by a five-member election steering committee to step aside. Chang Khim is known to have openly told party stalwart Lim Kit Siang to step down. In the same vein, Guan Eng wants another DAP leader, Loke Chow Fook to be cut off.
Over the decades, when Kit Siang felt his position threatened, he chopped off uprising leaders like Lee Lam Thye. Now, Guan Eng is following suit. The DAP's father-son institution does not look set to release their grip of power on DAP.
The words of Ong Chee Keng - who said that he was marginalised by DAP leaders - that the DAP does not practice democracy holds much water and is cause for concern for voters planning to vote for the opposition.
This power tussle comes on the heels of the recent resignation of Negeri Sembilan's Lim Fui Ming from DAP who still is a state assemblyperson amidst allegations of marginalisation by DAP leaders.
Two such claims of marginalisation within a time frame of one week can't be false.
