The gremlins at local councils are running riot with their own interpretation of the law and their selective enforcement.
Instead of just talking about it, I suggest those affected take these power abusers to court for discriminative actions as articles of the federal constitution prohibits discrimination unless specifically allowed under any law.
I know the local councils are immune from prosecution as the government has seen fit to give them the immunity, but we should start suing the officers and councillors individually for abusing their power, that will put the fear of god and rakyat onto them.
These councillors and officials should be sued on their personal capacity for abusing their power and doing their job in a discriminative manner and benefitting themselves only. I am sure the courts will be ultimate guardian of our ratepayer and citizen rights.
During the last Sultan Azlan Shah law lecture organised by Universiti Malaya, the speaker who is a supreme court US judge said that civil servants must be thought that they are there to facilitate and serve the public in an even and just manner. We pay taxes and there is a binding contract for the government to provide service and protect us without fear or favour.
What other way then asking a court to tell them that.
