I refer to the letter Others using 'Allah' will confuse Muslims .
In my opinion, this discussion has diverted from a purely factual discussion to one involving religion. The letter I sent in few weeks ago was to point out that the word 'Allah' is a word of Arabic origin and is being widely used in many countries to mean God.
I'm sure it carries deeper and divine meanings in the respective religions that believe in God.
The debate on differences in the religions, eg involving Islam and Christianity, is almost as old as the religions themselves and I m not going into that.
The main point I would like to say is that everyone has the right to use this word to refer to God, regardless of their religion.
Please be informed that 'Allah' is the word for God in the Iban and Kadazan languages. It is their right to use their mother tongue to practice their respective religions, regardless of whether it is Islam, Christianity, Hinduism or Buddhism.
If it isn't sensitive in Arab countries and Indonesia where the majority are Muslims, why should it in Malaysia?
