I was in Ijok last Friday night to see for myself the actual situation on the ground. I drove alone from Sri Damansara at 9pm after my badminton game. It took me one hour to cover a distance of some 30km through the jams and a police road block just before the town.

I managed to catch the ending part of a speech delivered by Azmin Ali outside a Chinese restaurant in Ijok town. I have heard so much about this man in the press but never had I the chance to catch his 'ceramah' in person. This man spoke eloquently in Bahasa, full of humour and political connotations. I must say I was fully impressed by his speech and was quite entertained by his stories.

After that, I had a quick fried rice dinner alone and the restaurant's woman boss looked at me as if I was from outer space, probably sensing I was not the local. I enquired from a Malay man in town as to where I could attend Anwar Ibrahim's 'ceramah' and he told me to drive 7km away to a Malay kampung.

I managed to reach the crowded place where the 'ceramah' was held. I parked my car by the road side and walked straight towards the crowd and mingled among them. No one bothered to look at me and I was lucky to catch Anwar's last one hour of speech.

I must say I was truly impressed by his style of speech - full of confidence, energy, sharp and anecdotal and of course, entertaining.

When I started driving back to Petaling Jaya after the ceramah at 12pm, I was overwhelmed by the massive display of Barisan Nasional banners and flags at every nook and corner. Even a Sarawak-based party's flags were there alongside with Gerakan's, MCA's and the PPP's.

On reaching home, I wondered how PKR will fight the giant BN machinery.
