I refer to the malaysiakini report 'Betrayed' by Anwar: Nalla to quit PKR .
S Nallakruppan's decision to quit PKR on the grounds that his intention to contest for the vice-president's post has been thwarted by the party advisor, clearly indicates his greed for position rather that a genuine spirit to establish a multiethnic political party. Such 'position-based' leaders will be naturally eliminated, because their presence will not contribute much to the struggle for justice.
In the first place, Nalla came into PKR because Anwar Ibrahim invited him to join the struggle; he did not come on his own accord. Besides, Nalla's claim that he has substantial power to get the Indians to support PKR does not hold water because he failed to convince the Ijok Indians to vote for PKR. This alone is sufficient proof that Nalla does not have the capability and substance to change the minds of Indians to support a multiethnic PKR. Under these circumstances, his exit from the party is tantamount to no loss.
Adding to these weaknesses, the speeches by Nalla, were both unimpressive and lacked cohesive substance to capture the imagination of the Indian Malaysians. What Anwar Ibrahim is doing is to putting together a strong leadership front for PKR. Nalla must have the magnanimity to listen to the strategy of Anwar and marshal behind him. Anwar is the only one who can face the Umno-BN Goliath. Instead of craving for positions, Nalla should carry on his struggle without thinking of personal or positional gains.
He should be contended with an appointed senior position, instead of becoming emotional and making a immature exit. He should be more patient and forbearing and grow with the party. It is a pity that his greed for position has sacrificed his opportunity to serve justice and the people. He must understand that PKR is young, still in its infancy. A full-scale democracy cannot be totally applied. Anwar's strong leadership nurturing must be used at this infancy stage to build the strongest front for PKR.
