I refer to the malaysiakini report Azmin: I know Ezam's game plan .
It comes as no surprise to read of former PKR Youth chief Ezam Mohd Nor has quit the opposition party owing to disillusionment against its party advisor and de facto chief Anwar Ibrahim whom Ezam said he 'no longer has trust in his sincerity'.
Ezam's departure from PKR comes in the footsteps of Anwar's former tennis partner S Nallakaruppan and former PKR Permatang Pauh chief Anuar Shaari who departed PKR on acrimonious terms. Other prominent PKR upper echelon members who have since left the PKR fray are former secretary-general Anuar Tahir, vice president Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and supreme council member Saari Sungib.
Members leaving PKR is nothing new. But Ezam stands out as he is considered an Anwar loyalist, having served as political secretary to the deputy prime minister's before Anwar was sacked by then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
But is Anwar really the real de facto leader or is there another chess master lurking? Consider this salvo from Ezam hurled against his former friend now turned foe, PKR vice president Azmin Ali. Readers will recall that Azmin is the former private secretary to Anwar.
'Anwar cannot make firm decisions against Azmin and this is detrimental to the party ... a schemer who dominates Anwar in PKR.' Ezam's statement does suggest that Azmin has the upper hand above Anwar on determining the movement and direction of the party.
So who calls the shots in PKR?
