If Umno wants a corrupt administrative system, then that is what you will get.
To become a member of the very thin upper crust of the political elite in a third world banana republic is the quickest route to fabulous wealth and riches.
When political elites prey on their own citizen's tax money and the nation's natural resources such as oil and gas, then this is commonly referred to by professional economists as government banditry.
When public services break down, crime rates soar, corruption becomes the norm in both the private and public sectors, and the disparity between the politically-connected and the honest working Joe widens, then this is the result of political elites in Malaysia refusing to clean up the system that has made them obscenely wealthy in the first place.
As the paramount power in Malaysia, Umno elites decide whether a more corrupt or less corrupt system is to their personal advantage, and this is what the rest of us will be getting.
Currently nobody except the most gullible idiot will believe that our politicians are honest, clean and transparent. Unfortunately, there are a lot of idiots out there.
The point I want to make is that if Umno leaders really wanted to clean the system up, it could have done so within six months. As it is, I don't think anybody believes we will be getting a clean and transparent govenrment in our lifetimes.
