The Cyberjaya RapidKL bus service which is supposed to transport public transport users from the Putrajaya Sentral Bus Station is besieged with problems. Previously, the No. 429 bus will appear at 5.10pm. The second bus will appear around 5.35pm.
This is a violation of the 15 to 20 minutes interval promised by RapidKL. The regularity can be seen advertised on banners of RapidKL buses. Starting from July, it seems the waiting interval has become longer.
Two intervals of this bus service have been merged into one. The 5.10pm and 5.35pm bus will not appear until 5.45pm. On July 4 and 5, I took a bus which is so full with people that literally users were squashed against the inside of the bus' front windscreen! That is what you get from squeezing people from two buses into one.
This is a cause of concern it as it is also a risk to the bus drivers. Basically, the bus drivers are having problem looking at their side and front mirrors which may result in a traffic accident.
Sad to say, on those days, users at at least three subsequent stops were skipped. I wonder how long the had to wait for another bus.
In June, some officials said they wanted Malaysia's public transport to be as good as Singapore's or Hong Kong's. Have they been overseas, I wonder? Hong Kong and Singapore have a much more complex public transport systems but are able to handle it well. If Cyberjaya, a flapship town, can't handle a simple bus transport system, how will the public have confidence in the government handling the country public transport system successfully?
I intend to submit a petition to the authorities on Cyberjaya's bus service. Fellow users are welcome to e-mail me at [email protected] for ideas and suggestions.
