Yesterday, there was a report regarding the nation's first music, dance and drama university. Its first rector claimed that Aswara has a very strong faculty, comprising well-qualified and experienced lecturers and trainers.

I am worried about this claim because if one scrutinises the academic staff section, the lecturers do not have the basic qualifications to be a lecturer, which is at least a Masters. The rector himself, Omar Awang, was quoted as a veteran educator. Is this true?

Correct me if I say that almost all the Aswara lecturers do not have a Masters. So how did the government approve the university's status?

To my mind, there should be some academic staff in this university who should at least hold a PhD in either Theatre, Music, or Dance, to lead the nation's first Performing Arts University. If not, it is a shame on the country.
