What else must the ruling coalition do to discourage Malaysians from voting for them at the next general elections? It seems they have tried everything to fail the people and to show that the BN leaders are a bunch of arrogant, incompetent people.
In the US, the president has to give a State of the Union address to Congress which is like a report card of the country. If Malaysia was to do a state of the union address, it appears there is much to worry over.
The level of crime in Malaysia has reached a critical level and this has affected the 'rakyat''s daily life and inevitably foreign investment into the country. The judiciary is in disarray with allegations of executive interference and widespread corruption.
The government prosecutor's office is inefficient and sloppy, unable to bring the many serious crimes to court. The racial disharmony and discontent is brewing with little direction from the leaders except to prohibit the speaking on sensitive issues.
The Royal Malaysian Police is divided among itself with allegations of abuse, corruption and indiscipline.
The economy is in slumber with little activity and growth. There are religious issues and discontent which have not been dealt with satisfactorily.
There are cases before the judiciary which will have international ramifications should justice be denied.
All this amidst an impending recession which may well be sparked off by a liquidity crunch in the US, the growing economic dominance of Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia and China and the threat of globalisation.
