I am a jobless father. Made jobless by the facts of government polices. With the same determination not to bow to unfair and unjust policies of the government, I refuse to buy a much-needed computer for my son from Pos Malaysia.

The essence of the E-Economy is to break down barriers in trade restriction, allowing a buyer the knowledge of choice to make the most cost-effective purchase and to acquire the best of knowledge from computers.

The EPF restriction to buy PCs from Pos Malaysia only is nothing but a mockery to the K-economy, the E-economy and the B2C ventures. How do you choose when you have no choice but to buy only from Pos Malaysia?

Pos Malaysia is selling Dell and Gateway computers. The manufacturers know the importance of flexibility in configuring the computer to the buyer. Buyers have different usage for their computers, much like sending letters to different countries.

Are the computers offered by Pos Malaysia reasonably priced? The answer is no.

For the Dell computer of the type Pos Malaysia is selling, a buyer has to pay RM450 more. What is the extra the public is paying for? We must be informed, particularly since we have to withdraw our hard-earned savings for it.

If Pos Malaysia cannot survive without squeezing our savings, Malaysia should announce out loud that she is one country which cannot join world globalisation.

Malaysia should also withdraw from Apec, Asean and all trade and economic entities and, of course, with all finality, from the Internet.

We Malaysians cannot join the Web with old, expensive computers and call ourselves wired intellectuals.

The MSC should then be termed the Great Real Estate Development of Malaysia.
