I refer to Najib, Radzi to blame for migrant workers woes.
Where is your soul, Malaysia? This entire fiasco with immigrant workers reeks with corruption. We are today a nation that practices a form of human slavery. People in search for economic well-being come to countries like ours to earn a living after having sold their possessions and taken heavy loans for which their families will have to pay.
Here sitting in the air conditioned offices at Putrajaya are immigration officers working together with labour recruitment agents in our lucrative flesh trade. Time and again, these issues have been highlighted but the same story repeats itself. There are so many people on the take including politicians, and yet we do not want to deal with this issue. How can we as a nation continue to treat others in this manner? Where is our conscience?
Unless we are ready to deal with corruption in our country, this issue is not going to be answered. Now that elections are around the corner, some people are raising funds by allowing these workers to come in without checking on the credentials of the companies nor the agents. The money is collected and the rest of the problem including human suffering that many undergo is for others to handle.
Our problems with immigrant workers have gone on for so many years. In the end, this is what corruption does to the soul of a people they lose their sense of compassion. My heart goes out to the poor who come with expectations only to have these dashed and killed in the soil of this land. The bill for this will be paid by all Malaysians.
