Time for us 'to pakai our otak', okay?
A Very Flabbergasted Reggie | Jun 30, 08 4:02pm
Malaysians are a spoilt and lazy lot! With the recent increase in prices for quite a lot of things (essential and non-essential) one would have thought that Malaysians would actually begin changing their lifestyles - nonsense! That is not happening!

Just take a stroll around the shopping complexes and pay special attention to the F&B outlets - they are still packed. Despite the rise in prices and the supposed (or perceived) reduction in spending power, quite a lot of people have refused to adjust their lifestyles.

But they continue to complain that prices are high and that they are suffering and that they do not have enough - all bull as far as I am concerned.

We have degraded to a society of takers and dreamers. All we want is for the government to give, give, give and give. Subsidise this and subsidise that. Gosh, what is it that the people want?

That the prices for everything stay forever as they were, never to rise at all? That’s just impossible. Just a bit of hardship and everyone complains as though its completely unbearable.

Malaysians will eventually become a lazy lot if we do not learn how to be resilient and strong. Stand up like men and tackle the problems.

We must now really pakai our otak and think of better and more creative ways of increasing our incomes. Stop complaining and start thinking and doing.

That’s the other thing. Everyone just focuses on how much (perceived again, as far as I am concerned) they will suffer and lose and have to adjust their lifestyle downwards.

Well, my advice is to think of other ways to make money. Sure, be prudent and trim where possible but also think of ways to increase income as well.

Don't just sit around and complain about the government. Everything also blame the government and Petronas!

I bet even if we had a fantastic government and all the GLCs were well run, the prices of goods will still go up. It is a global thing.

Wake up Malaysians!
