We, MIC Youth, are deeply saddened and angered by the irresponsible statement made by MP of Kapar, S Manickavasagam, who accused MIC members of not assisting the grieving family members of A Kugan.

To accuse us of not involving ourselves in investigating the brutal death of Kugan is simply irresponsible of him.

He should know better than anyone that MIC Youth members were ‘first at the scene’ in the Serdang mortuary, arriving even before Kugan’s family members and representatives from other political parties.

He should know better than anyone else that MIC Youth leaders practically ‘camped’ in the Serdang mortuary together with the deceased’s family members, when other opposition-based political leaders were just happy to snap photographs of themselves with the victim's family and posting them on the Internet.

He also knows who made arrangements for Kugan's funeral.

Just because MIC Youth members did not pose for photos like their opposition counterparts does not mean we are not involved in solving this brutal murder case.

Photos and videos on mainstream media and Internet news portals clearly show the presence of MIC Youth members in each and every aspect related to this case.

Manickavasagam’s immature statement clearly shows which political party is politicising Kugan's death. His death for MIC Youth is not an opportunity to gain political mileage. For us, it is a crusade for justice and the truth.
