Another warrant of arrest has been issued against Raja Petra Kamarudin after he failed to turn up at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Tuesday for his criminal defamation trial. He is on the run from the law.

The Star had reported on Sunday that according to an unnamed police source, RPK and his wife are now in hiding in Brisbane, Australia. Two days later, inspector-general of police Musa Hassan announced that the authorities are seeking the help of Interpol to track down Malaysia’s most famous fugitive.

By now, RPK is a national figure; he is more famous than most politicians. What he says and does may make him appear like a maverick, but they grab headline attention far more dramatically than those YBs getting arrested by the police for illegal assembly. He has become a unique Malaysian phenomenon.
