  • YourSay: Khir doesn't make sense at all

your say'Maybe he wanted to operate a community centre. Come on, Khir, tell the people how your real purpose was to work for them by building a public amenity. We'll believe you.'

On ...it was only RM3.5 mil

Maniam Sankar: I believe Khir Toyo when he said he only paid RM3.5 million for his mansion.

I also believe he had ‘donations in kind' to build the property up to its current value.

What would be interesting is to see who these kind donors were.

And also how the good dentist intends to use the house as he is not known to have more than one wife or many children.

Maybe he wanted to operate a community centre.

Come on, Khir, tell the people how your real purpose was to work for them by building a public amenity. We'll believe you.

Ong: Every statement coming from Khir Toyo's mouth does not make sense.

He said that he "bought the house with a loan of RM3.5 million from a foreign bank" and "the RM3.5 million price-tag was for both the house and the land".

Everyone knows that banks do not give loans equivalent to 100 percent of the property value.

This means that if the loan was RM3.5 million, then the value of the house must be more than RM3.5 million, with no upper limit.

Khir Toyo challenged Sekinchan representative Ng Suee Lim to sell the bungalow for RM24 million, in return for which he will give Ng RM12 million in commission.

Since Khir Toyo has claimed that "the RM3.5 million price-tag was for both the house and the land", Ng should counter-challenge Khir Toyo by offering to get a buyer for RM7 million, giving Toyo a 100 percent profit.

In any case if Khir Toyo actually paid RM3.5 million for his palace, he has proven that BN politicians are not really that corrupt. The general public perception is that a BN menteri besar gets his house free of charge.

    Doraisamy:
I worked as a quantity surveyor for a development firm for almost 20 years and would like to share my expertise with others.

My former firm had few pieces of land in the Shah Alam area. We bought some land in Bukit Cherakah and Jelutong Heights. As I understand it, the land in that area is now priced at approximately RM45-60 per square feet.

With regard to Khir Toyo's 52,291 square feet of land for his bungalow, the land alone would cost about RM2.3 million at the current market rate.

Add to that the cost of building the bungalow, the swimming pool and the landscape. The total cost could come up to about RM7 million.

My estimate is only for the land and the bungalow with swimming pool. Other items are excluded.

However. the cost of fittings and finishes of any bungalow could be very high as well.

How do we know whether you have installed a hot and cold Jacuzzi, more so if it's imported?

Apart from it, local tiles can cost as much as RM100 per piece, but if you buy tiles from Italy, the price is 100 euro per piece!

Come on Khir Toyo, you have made your money through some channels which the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission should look into.
