'Muhyiddin, tell us the truth about BTN'

your say 'Just last week, Muhyiddin said BTN courses are uniting Malaysians in line with the 1Malaysia concept. How do you explain this contradiction? You speak to us like we are stupid and ignorant.'

Revamp for controversial BTN courses

Amaso: According to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz:

"1. Instruction was "believed" to be given to the chief secretary to revamp the BTN courses.

"2. Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, and several ministers were thoroughly briefed on BTN's divisive courses a few weeks ago."

This leads us in the public to propose the following question - when did the two events above occur? Before or after PKR Youth Wing uncovered the truth about BTN courses? Had that not happened, BTN would have continued to instill hatred among Malaysians.

So, catch the culprits and charge them under the Sedition Act, regardless whether they did it on their own or under instruction from their superiors. Kudos to Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim for his courage in issuing the stop order.

Just last week, Muhyiddin said BTN courses are uniting Malaysians in line with the 1Malaysia concept. However, Nazri now said that a few weeks ago, the prime minister, deputy prime minister and several ministers were briefed that the BTN courses were divisive instead of inclusive (uniting).

Muhyiddin, how do you explain this contradiction? You speak to us like we are stupid and ignorant. What say you?

Irene Fernandez: Regardless of the pretentious damage control that Nazri announced today, what raises questions is when the current curriculum was drawn up.

Who drafted it? How long has it been in place since its first introduction? How many have undergone the training? Under whose administration was it approved?

Was that same administration not conscious of the seditious and racially inflammatory nature of that curriculum? And finally, will the instructors and others who blatantly propagated such racism be taken to task?

Karma: If it ain't broke, why fix it? Who earlier lied that the BTN programmes are actually and fully apolitical and non-racist? I have not attended BTN sessions, but I think it's easy to frame "facts" about May 1969, Hindraf street protests, Ketuanan Melayu, etc, into racially explosive content.

Bringing up the days of Japanese occupation can be easily made into an calamitous movement against the Japanese residing in Malaysia today. If that is true, why do we need to bring up such ‘history', if not for the political mileage of certain quarters?

Thinking Aloud: So what you (Nazri) are saying is, "Yes, yes, yes, this is a racist programme and needs to be amended so that it will reflect the true Malaysia". So are you indirectly stating that the deputy prime minister, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, and other ministers were lying when they defended the programme? When will BN begin to tell the truth?

Did you notice that only Umno defended the programme? Doesn't the conspicuous silence of the other BN parties say something about their private stance on the issue as well as their lack of influence? They are there only to pick up what falls from the master's table so that they can enrich themselves.

I hope you (BN/Umno) will learn from the Quran on the need to respect all races and their contribution to this country.

Hardtail: You can revamp all you want but what about the thousands of participants already taught and trained to hate? Shouldn't they be hauled back for re-programming? Why put perfume on faeces when it will continue to stink?

Cala: If the report is true, it is a sign that this prime minister means business. Let us see how he puts it into practice.

Christine Yong: Knowing Nazri, he will appoint a committee to study this BTN issue, spend another few million dollars, and take 10 months to finish the study. By then, we would've have lost so much in terms of political will, time, and money.

Sigh, what a useless bunch of good-for-nothing people, appointed to loot the country and not run the country.
