'MACC can't ask us to do their work'

vox populi small thumbnail 'MACC has been reduced to the point of being totally ridiculous. Just imagine the main anti-corruption agency of the country asking a complainant to do the work for them.'

MACC to PKR Youth chief: Find Bala for us

Justice: MACC has been reduced to the point of being totally ridiculous and pure rubbish. Just imagine the main anti-corruption agency of the country asking the complainant to do the work for them when all their resources are provided by us, via our taxpayer money. Sick.

Louis: Look at how useless our MACC and police are. They can't even locate a simple man. How are they supposed to find and confront hardcore gangsters? The truth is they are not aggressive in pursuing cases involving top guns.

Please do not hoodwink the rakyat who only know the MACC and police all too well.

Tan Teng Wah: Another joke of a joke. But PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskander Mohd Akin had better beware. Shamsul, the MACC may even charge you for lodging a false report if you cannot find private investigator P Balasubramaniam. As I have said earlier, this may result in the messenger being the biggest loser.

Neither the police nor the MACC will do anything at all in regards to what has been revealed by Bala. Nevertheless, the whole issue will keep haunting Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as long as he lives.

Teh: Many of us were waiting for the MACC's response to Shamsul's report. We expected a nonsensical response and the MACC did not disappoint. If the MACC cannot do the job, then we should request for a royal commission to get to the bottom of things.

AMT: MACC is only capable of handling cows and cars issues. This case is too complex for them. Didn't you know?

MACC chief opts out early, No 2 to take over

CK Chang: Do you think the people will believe that it was MACC chief Ahmad Said's own request that his tenure be shortened? Who are you trying to bluff? Surely someone up there has called the shots. It's called the ‘pre-election rally'.

Luk: Do we need to read any further into this? Yesterday's news: 'MACC to probe allegations against Najib's brother' . Today's news: 'MACC chief opts out early, No 2 to take over' .

Hmmm: Is this because of a recent diligence or a past transgression?

PM Moey: Under Ahmad Said's leadership or lack thereof, the MACC has shown to lack teeth and has been politically compromised. He should have been told to quit earlier for his incompetency. In any case, it is still better late than never.

Fairplay: Even though he leaves, he still must be investigated for all the wrongdoings that he was directly responsible for during his tenure as MACC commissioner. Apart from that, good riddance.

Wong Chee Kong: Is he also scared his stomach will burst ?

Peace accord gone to the dogs?

2-Party Joe: We are told time and again that the people are against his (Chin Peng's) returning. Why is the government so fearful of one old man? Many lost their lives during that era on both sides and many families were broken but isn't that the price one has to pay for one's beliefs?

The soldiers who fought bravely and gave their lives during the Emergency period did so for the country and their belief in a democratic way of life for all the people.

The people chose to support democracy over communism and will do so again today if called upon once more. Communism has collapsed all over the world, which shows that its ideology does not work. The government has to trust the Malaysian public to make the right choices and respect who they wish to support.

Cala: What threat would Chin Peng pose if Umno allows him to have social visit? So what is the real reason for denying his application? Yes. The race-based Umno is using him as another imaginary target to fight against.

To Umno's elites, any form of a threat, no matter how remotely outrageous, is a good cause for them to rally against, especially if it is racial in nature. The name ‘Chin Peng' is an excuse for the ruling elites to build a coagulating force within Umno. They also use Chin Peng to distract the public from the other more pressing issues facing society.

Ahmad Kamal: When Rustam Sani was alive (may he rest in peace), he initiated public forums for young people which had sessions on the pre-Merdeka peoples' struggles for independence. These forums were held on Merdeka Day.

Perhaps independence activists could get together and continue these forums during which we could learn and remember untold stories, including that of Chin Peng and the CPM. These stories should be part of our collective memory.
