Noh Omar in a state of denial

vox populi small thumbnail 'Khir Toyo’s reputation is second to none when it comes to arrogance, corruption and mismanagement of Selangor.’

Khalid no match to Khir, says Noh

Rocky: As a rakyat of Selangor and having engaged MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as well his staff, I can safely say he is a thousand times better than Dr Mohd Khir Toyo.

Khalid listens to the people, is transparent and not racist. Take for example, how he handled the temple relocation in Section 23, Shah Alam, compared to how Umno played it up, which shows him to be a good leader. Moreover, he doesn't waste rakyat's money on unwanted trips to Disneyland. Damn, he even flies AirAsia!

So Noh Omar, go fly a kite. Khalid fights for the people on the water issue, while Khir gave a one-sided contract that screwed the rakyat.

Malaysians Are Not Stupid: Noh Omar says that the new administration caused a lot of problems. He is right. It caused a lot of problems for all the crooks in BN. It made stealing the rakyat's land and money difficult.

If not for Pakatan Rakyat’s win in the last election, he'd probably be the MB or deputy MB, busy plotting how to make himself and his cronies rich.

Wira: Noh, you needn't spin to support the ex-MB. Nobody believes Khir Toyo is cleaner than Khalid. Moreover, many of the problems Khalid inherited were not his. They were either from the previous BN administration or created by trouble rousers and saboteurs from Umno after March 2008.

Anonymous: This is what we call a state of denial. Pakatan has done what BN was not able to do. Blaming Pakatan for Selangor not being able to get much money for development? I believe it's the other way around. The federal government which holds too much power is actually being biased against Selangor because it is no longer under Umno.

We Sarawakians know that the best way to deal with BN’s warnings is to ignore them and move on. Get rid of what is corrupted and put in order what is right.

Atheist: Selangor Umno deputy chief Noh Omar needs to have his head examined if he rates Khalid Ibrahim as "dirtier" than Khir Toyo. Any psychiatrist in the world will vouch that he is mentally challenged if he holds on to this view. Noh, please don't kid yourself and come out of your state of denial.

BTN: My God, Noh Omar must be a blind man to compare Khir Toyo to Khalid Ibrahim. Khir Toyo’s reputation is second to none when it comes to arrogance, corruption and mismanagement of the state.

Is meritocracy-phobic Dr M declaring war on NEM?

FairMind: This is the best joke of the year spilled by Dr Mahathir Mohamad - meritocracy of choosing the best, the most capable and the most suitable is racist. How can anybody of sound mind could ever come to that conclusion? It beats me unless he is the biggest racist with a hidden selfish agenda.

Keturunan Malaysia: Mahathir only confirmed that he is afraid of Malaysians more than he is afraid of God. If Pakatan should form the federal government, which is getting more and more likely each day, he knows he has much to answer to and answers indeed he has to. He doesn't want to die too soon and definitely he hopes he would long be gone if at all Pakatan takes over.

Thus, he doesn't care anymore what Malaysians and the world think about him. He doesn't care even if Vision 2020 does not come to pass. He only cares for his own skin. To think that I once respected him, what a total letdown.

Natural law: Pakatan's dangerous tool

Alice Mary Anthony Muthu: The writer has a misunderstood the concept of natural law. Natural law is an innate and natural desire of human persons for freedom that takes into consideration a deep spiritual longing for the search for truth. Unbiased truth comes not from subjective ,sentimental response to issues, but adherence to a set of objective truths that are universal. This truths can be seen in the Ten Commandments.

For example, the sanctity of marriage is a universal natural law. Don’t steal, is another natural law. What’s wrong with that? The right to chose good or evil is an individual choice, which is a natural law that does not impose.

The Malaysian: Whichever set of law principles is adopted, threats to justice and liberalism will arise mainly because of inconsistent applications and selective implementation plus concocted persecution.

This is what we have in Malaysia today and will continue to suffer them so long as we vote in men and women without morals and integrity. Please do not throw in a wobbly now unless you have your own agenda, unlike most right-minded citizens in this country.

Steve Oh: The writer seems confused between the practice of law today with the intrinsic moral nature of a law. You presume morality is subjective, but is it? What is subjective about univeral laws like "Do not kill, do not steal, do not lie, do not cheat, etc?"

Surely, even the liberals think they are good for us, unless they are lawbreakers. Sure, there is disagreement on what is absolute or relative but there is a consensus on those universal laws. Every civilisation needs a moral code of conduct that inevitably becomes law, and how good a law is depends on how it benefits everyone.

Who says we agree with Hart's dictum that 'law is not morality, let it not be subsumed by morality' and that 'religionisation of law' is bad?

Western civilisation owed its rise to Judaeo-Christian laws and Sarawakians would still be practising head-hunting but for the British influence. Nay, PKR is not on the dangerous slope what with DAP and PAS checking one another.

It is law without morality that is the danger. When laws are without moral justice and laws are applied without moral justice, it is dangerous. The Internal Security Act is a law to protect the country's internal security, but when applied in an immoral manner to persecute innocent citizens, it loses its moral authority and becomes the dangerous tool of repression.

Good laws abused by bad people are dangerous and our sense of moral justice makes us protest. The urgent need for Pakatan is not to detract into the inessentials but to focus on taking the essential role of good governance. And they can't do that without a strong and sound moral grounding.

That is the Archilles’ heel of the incumbent government which is reeks of corruption - a terrible moral failing with dire consequences for the nation.

Federal Court: Elegant Advisory can't sue Umno

Kgen: Umno cheats Malay company. At least, Umno doesn't distinguish between skin colour when cheating. Serves you right for dealing with the devil. Next time, "In God we trust, but for Umno, cash only."

Lim Chong Leong: Umno is immune from legal suits in Malaysia. After all, the judges are appointed by Umno, so how can they judge against their own masters?

Anyway, this is Umno’s style of doing business. Owe people, no need to pay. You dare to sue? Unless you are crony, you don't get paid. And cronies get paid extra.

You have delivery orders, so what? All Umno lawyer Mohd Hafarizam Harun had to do was to deny orally in Federal Court and this was taken as truth. How can a lawyer gave oral evidence and this out-weighed the documentary evidence in the form of delivery orders?

And what is the Election Commision doing with the evidence of electoral overspending? Shouldn't Umno seats be declared vacant for illegality?

OneFair: Any taker for new election posters to be printed by Umno must get payment first before printing. History can repeat itself, and it will be worse when the next election sees a change of government.

Frustrated: If the company was suing Pakatan Rakyat, the story would have been different. But not with Umno. This story has been repeated a thousand times. Need I say more?

Gen2: Dishonest buyers are leading the government of Malaysia. This is Ramadan. Be a good Muslim and pay your debts.

VP Biden: Umno does not deal with middleman because Umno ‘is’ the middle man.

Kelantan to sue Petronas over oil royalty

Abil: When the finance minister and the defence minister can pay RM500 million as commission to Perimaker, which is Abdul Razak Baginda's company, for procurement of submarines, I wonder why Petronas holds on to Kelantan’s oil royalty, which belongs to its people.

If one company can get so much for doing nothing, it is shameful for Petronas not giving back to the people of Kelantan. But legal avenues in Malaysia is not a good option for opposition states as the agreement, however fortified, will eventually be read to the convenience of the ruling party.

BTN: It's high time the money that was supposed to be used to uplift the living standard of the Malays be given back to them, not to mention Malaysians as a whole.

You just wonder where the hell all this money went! Those politicians who have a share of this money have used it in the most ‘membazir’ (wasting) manner. Did it uplift the standard of the Malays in general?

The answer is a big no. It enriched only those who have connections. This type of thing should make the Malays ‘bangkit’ (rise up). Hidup Melayu, hidup Malaysia!
