'We shall not be ruled at gunpoint'

your say 'Let the police arrest Lee Lan. Many will be outraged by such action, especially younger Malaysians.'

Teoh Beng Hock's sister arrested in Galas

Rolls-Royce: It is the right of Teoh Beng Hock's (TBH) relatives to go anywhere in Malaysia, including Galas. It is their right to bring up the issue of TBH's death. It is their right to make a police report when they were bullied there.

Senator Heng Saie Kie, where are you? Are you going to say or do something? As an appointed senator with a deputy minister's post for someone as inept as you, we understand your need to defend your good life at all cost.

But remember TBH actually died, and he had loved ones too. If their relatives had tried to meet you in Kuala Lumpur, would you have seen them? Touch your heart before answering. Remember, God is watching.

Klangboy: The government is losing the plot - badly and rapidly. Malaysians are no longer in awe of the men in uniform, thanks to roadside corruption, and they are willing to stand up when treated nonsensically.

Going to jail or getting arrested is no longer the stigma of what it used to be. In fact, it is more like a rite of passage and badge of honour. It is time for the people in power to wake up or they will lose it.

Maitreya: You cannot rule a whole country of 28 million at gunpoint, PM Najib Abdul Razak.

Urban Malaysian: Good! Let the BN police arrest her so that many more rational Malaysians get outraged by the action, especially the younger Malaysians in their 20s and let us all boot out this arrogant and ineffective government.

Jeremy Tankh: Instead of preventing and solving crimes, the rate of which has literally shot through the roof in Malaysia, the police whose salary we taxpayers pay, go around catching Malaysians who are voicing out against injustices.

Sentinel: Nothing has changed as far as the Malaysian police is concerned. They still act as lapdogs for their political masters. This is another of many dark days in the history of the Royal Malaysian Police - such a shameful persecution of innocent people who are only rightfully seeking justice.

VK Ling-a-Lingam: We demand the release of these people. It doesn't matter who or what they are affiliated to, they have every right to campaign for any party they feel would give them justice.

Why are the police interfering into the democratic process of this nation? Are we in a police state?

WFWorker: BN, how many votes would Teoh's sister have influenced at Galas if she had not been arrested? Now you're going to lose plenty of votes come the next general elections. Why are you so suicidal? Obviously you are bent on losing the war.

Fido Dido: Which part of the country's law has Teoh Lee Lan violated? Why must the police intimidate an innocent grieving member of the rakyat when a sibling has been murdered?

I hope Pakatan Rakyat takes over Putrajaya with two-thirds majority and quickly implement the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC).

Loo Soon Fatt: It is the democratic right of Malaysian citizens to be involved in campaigning activities for whichever party they choose. What crime has Lee Lan and the rest committed? We might as well don't hold elections at all.

Nil: By this very action, BN has lost the hearts and minds of the people at Galas and Batu Sapi, especially the young voters. You may yet win the ‘buy elections' by hook or by crook, but come the general election, the people will surely forsake you. You won't change a bit, will you?

By Election Fan: So Lee Lan seeking justice for her brother who died while in the custody of MACC can be interpreted as engaged in campaigning, in contravention of Section 4(a) of the Election Offences Act.

Please make your point clear, who is complaining? The Malaysian Anti-Corruptiopn Commission (MACC) or MCA? If MCA is the responsible party, then they really stay true to their name of Making Chinese Angry. This time, it should be changed to MCVVA - Make Chinese Very Very Angry.

Wira: If we plead for justice on the Internet, will we be also guilty of canvassing, since the voters of Galas have online access? What a stupid reason for keeping Beng Hock's sister behind bars.

The police could have charged her for the more primitive reason of having more than three people in a public gathering without a permit. At least that is provided for under the law.

Tired: While I sympathise with the TBH family, I can't help but feel flabbergasted at how they are being used politically. They have become pawns and puppets in this political game.

I don't understand the argument that they are in Galas to track down some ministers. Does this mean that all this while the ministers could not be tracked down in Kuala Lumpur? Such a lame excuse.

I believe the underpinning reason they are in Galas is to create some controversy, which they have succeeded as the police have danced to their tune.

Kee: What is so wrong in campaigning for justice? Lee Lan, don't be afraid, the people are with you. They can't catch thieves and robbers but they are very good at catching innocent people or even causing their deaths.
