Day 7 - RM16mil road upgrading project in Batu Sapi

8am - 12pm

(Batu Sapi): Information Communications and Culture Minister Rais Yatim at Kg Istimewa. 

10.30am (Batu Sapi): Minister Rais at Bandar Ramai-Ramai and Kampung Air.

11am (Galas): About 300 people wearing 1Malaysia t- shirts gather in Kampung Baru Pulai. This is the second of such event after the first walk held in Kampung Baru Gua Musang yesterday attracted more than 1,000 people.

NONE After distributing goodie bags - containing Milo and milk drinking packets - to the participants, the 1Malaysia walk kicked off with about 300 shouting 1Malaysia slogans and walking towards Kampung Baru Pulai, a Chinese-majority area and a BN stronghold in Galas.

11am (Batu Sapi): Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman visits Daerah Sandakan Masjid

11.10am (Batu Sapi): In his daily press conference, PKR candidate Ansari Abdullah invites Chinese physician Chan Wah Heong to attend the briefing to express his thanks for treating his injuries following this second fall into the sea while campaigning.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and PKR vice-president Azmin Ali are also present.

NONE 12pm (Galas): Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and Annuar Musa Li bring Kelantan's Malaysia Cup champions Red Warriors to meet the local folks at Dataran Kesedar.

12.30pm (Batu Sapi): Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister and state Infrastructure Development Minister Joseph Pairin Kitingan announces a RM16 million road upgrading project for Jalan Sibuga in Batu Sapi, to be launched next year.

He said the project was personally approved by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, proving that the BN government is looking out for the welfare of the people.

“This is special because it was raised to the attention of our Prime Minister and he agreed (to the project). Whatever we do is a present to the people, because it is for the betterment of the people," he tells a press conference at Sanbay Hotel.

1pm - 5.30pm (Batu Sapi): Minister Rais at Flat MPS, Karamunting.

1.30pm (Batu Sapi): Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has lunch with crew of KD Sri Sandakan.

2pm (Galas): PAS mursyidul am Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat holds a press conference in Lojing after visiting Orang Asli settlements there.

NONE He announces the set-up of a mobile clinic by PAS candidate Dr Zulkefli Mohamed ( middle, in photo ) to serve the Orang Asli community in Gua Musang, and a secretariat by the state government to look into issues faced by the indigenous people.

He was speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting in Lojing with the board of the state's development corporatioin Perbadanan Kemajuan Iktisad Negeri Kelantan.

Referring to suggestions by BN questioning Zulkefli's qualifications, Nik Aziz says the candidate is qualified.

2pm (Batu Sapi): CM Musa visits Kawasan Lapang, Kg Batu Sapi Laut.

3pm (Batu Sapi): Minister Ahmad Zahid meets Sabahan army veterans Dewan Masyarakat Sandakan.

3.15pm (Batu Sapi): CM Musa Aman campaigning in Kampung Mangkalinau to about 30 villagers.

"We are the only one that brings you development," said Musa.

4.15pm: Higher Education Minister Saifuddin Abdullah says in Parliament that the ministry will wait for a detailed report from the Gua Musang district police headquarters before proceeding to act on the matter of Gamis student activists arrested last Saturday. 

NONE "We have the explanation of the four students... in such cases, the ministry will inform the university and it is up to the university to take action," said the Temerloh MP.

"Most importantly we must make sure that the four students don't face a (situation of) double jeopardy... It’s under the police' jurisdiction to investigated. We want to avoid them being interrogated again, but we will wait for a full report," he said.

On Saturday, students aged between 18 and 25 were arrested in Galas allegedly for distributing fliers of a political party.

NONE 4.20pm (Galas): Residents - commenting on the presence of a noisy convoy of motorists shouting 'Hidup Barisan!' and 1Malaysia slogans as they ride through Kampung Baru Pulai to Sekolah Menengah Tengku Indra Petra 2 - allege that every such motorist gets paid RM100 for the ride.

7.10pm (Batu Sapi): About 1,000 people to attend the Pakatan Rakyat campaign at the Hakka Hall at Mile 6, Sandakan.

A crowd has already built up, as PKR Johor chief Chua Jui Meng and Selangor exco Elizabeth Wong.

8pm (Batu Sapi): Over 1,000 people attended a dinner hosted by the Sandakan Chinese Association dinner at Dewan Sekolah Yu Yuen at Mile 4, Sandakan. Chief Minister Musa and BN's Batu Sapi candidate Linda Tsen Thau Lin are among the VIPs in attendance.

Youth and Sports Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek attends a dinner with ministry staff at Kompleks Sukan Sandakan.

8pm (Galas): DAP ceramah in Kampung Baru Gua Musang featuring Selangor assembly speaker Teng Chang Khim, ousted Perak assembly speaker V Sivakumar, and Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.

MCA leader Gan Ping Siew holds a talk for the Chinese community at Cafe 888 in Kampung Baru Cina in Gua Musang.

9.12pm (Batu Sapi): Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin arrives at Taman Po Hing along Jalan Batu Sapi, for a 'Ramah Mesra Belia' gathering, which was delayed for an hour due to rain.

He arrived in a motorcycle convoy. The assembled crowd is cuts across age groups, including youths from the area and mothers with children in tow.

A bunch of hampers were prepared on stage for a lucky draw and welcome dance was provided by the Sandakan Cultural Club.

9pm (Galas): PAS holds two ceramah: Kelantan state exco Mohd Amar Abdullah and state speaker Nassuruddin Daud addresses the crowd in Kampung Kerinting, while another exco Husam Musam and Mohd Fazdli Hassan are at Felcra Panggung Lalat.

10.15pm (Galas): Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah is confident that BN will rake in more Chinese votes than the last general elections.

He said that the Chinese community knew him well and knows what he and BN can do for the electorate.

"I can see there are changes in the Chinese community," he told reporters after meeting residents at Kampung Baru Gua Musang.

When pointed out that PAS candidate Dr Zulkifli Mohamad drew more votes than him during the last general election, Tengku Razaleigh said that voters then were "confused".

"They were confused that time because of the tsunami, now they have changed," said Tengku Razaleigh.

He said that both BN and PAS had a "50-50" chance of winning and said that BN's winning formula comprise of "heart to heart and eye to eye contact".

10.55pm (Batu Sapi): Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin draw sniggers from the crowd while speaking at Taman Po Hing as he lists the many Sabahans in high positions in Umno and the federal administration.

"I don't have to repeat where the attorney-general and a top police officer is from, the Dewan Rakyat speaker is also from Sabah... And Bung Mokhtar (Radin, Kinabatangan MP), it was a Sabahan who caught (celebrity) Zizie (Ezette)," he said.
