Street fighters don't become great politicians

your say 'One may withstand the blows of the police baton but still lacks the mental aptitude to withstand the challenges a politician faces.'

MP Gobala quits PKR, now an Independent

Geronimo: Everyone of the six who quit PKR thinks they are prima donnas. Why can't they see the need to work as a team? If they are so concerned about the nation, which is currently being screwed by the BN, they must persevere in serving the common good rather than narrow self-interests. If at all things don't work out, just resign without all the hullabaloo.

Pakatan is trying hard to find its own footing and each time when they are about to be stabilised, something like this happen, much to the pleasure of Umno. It is sabotage, pure and simple, and I am happy to see the back of them, finally.

Compass: Physical endurance is nothing compared to mental endurance. One may withstand the blows of the police baton but still lacks the mental aptitude to withstand the challenges a politician faces. Otherwise every street fighter would be a great man.

Ah Hoe: Why blame N Gobalakrishnan? Look at the circumstances leading to his departure. Party polls rigging galore: remember also P Jenapala's case. S Nallakaruppan was instructed by Anwar to stand aside so that his precious Azmin Ali would have a guaranteed win of one of the party's vice-presidential posts.

Every time someone leaves PKR, they would automatically be blamed and called a traitor. How about looking into their legitimate frustrations with the party and examining the Anwar-Azmin duo for poor leadership and fairness?

Alan Goh: Gobalakrishnan, go set up another BN-friendly NGO. Hopefully, all the kataks (frogs) who cannot see the bigger picture but are self-centred, quit before the 13th general elections.

Stand as an independent member or under PCM (Party Cinta Malaysia), HRP (Human Rights Party) or even better, under Zaid Ibrahim's party Kita. Only then would I salute you, like YB Shahrir Samad, who resigned from Umno, stood as an Independent and won the Johor Baru seat when he could not agree with ex-PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Armour Man: What? Quit the party post after you won Padang Serai under the PKR banner? If you are truly a man, you'd quit your parliamentary post too.

Hopeful123: Gobala, not knowing much Tamil is a problem to serving the Indians, is it? Your boss, S Samy Vellu, was a very good orator and very fluent in Tamil. How did he help the Indians while in MIC? What happened to the Telekom shares and all the other plundering of the Indian community?

Remember, if you have any principles or integrity left, resign from the MP's post and allow a by-election. Don't worry - if you are good supporter of BN, they will still allow you to contest as their candidate. For BN, the very fact you turned against the hands that fed you is good enough to validate your right to contest.

Atan-Toyol: This goon has no party discipline, just like the rest of those who had quit. Good riddance. PKR and Pakatan Rakyat have no place for self-serving members. He had many complaints, like about an Indian who cannot speak Tamil and thus cannot represent the Indians. Do all Indians speak Tamil? I know many Indians who speak Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu, and the list goes on.

Gandhi: The last Mohican has quit PKR, leaving the Indians unrepresented. PKR is doomed for sure.

Mambo: What a shame. Anwar and his team need to know how to manage their people. If his team members are making noises, then he should listen and accommodate them. If he wants to be tough, then this is what happens - people leave the party. Soon they will give the two-thirds majority to BN again and Pakatan will be the laughing stock of the country.

JB Guy: PKR should be more discerning in recruiting members and not depend on re-hashed or recycled politicians whose only goal is power and money. Perhaps they should be wooing professionals with integrity.

It does not matter if they are novices, so long as they serve the community with honesty and dedication. Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim and N Surendran are good choices. Gobala's departure is no loss for PKR and many Indians are happy that he is no longer in PKR.

Amirul Raziq: I'm not a fan of Gobala but I feel that a fellow human being, no matter of what race, should be treated with dignity. The Indians may be a minority and marginalised race but I think they have great power in determining the future of those occupying the seat of power.

Avatarista: Gobala, you were another frog in waiting. We don't need you because you were merely frustrated that Anwar didn't give any post to you in the recent PKR leadership line-up. This means you need posts to work for rakyat.

Multi Racial: You can't teach an old dog new tricks. Gopala is basically an MIC in PKR skin finding himself a role in the struggle for his own race. This is not what we want. Not because we don't care about our fellow Malaysians of Indian origin.

We want multi-racial parties that are only interested to develop Malaysia regardless of their race and religion. It's just too bad that Gobala doesn't seem to get it.
