Hata's dismissal not a surprise

vox populi small thumbnail 'Happy birthday Hata, we have great respect for what you have done. Keep it up. Our prayers are always with people like you.'

NUJ president sacked from Utusan

Manjit Bhatia: All decent and fair-minded Malaysians should resort to not buying Utusan Malaysia until after the next general election.

What you save in not purchasing copies of that worthless toilet rag can be donated to Hata Wahari and his family, and for mounting his legal case if it goes to the Industrial Court. Bleed Utusan and it may teach those who own and run it that it will hurt them because their revenue has turned sour.

No revenue, no profit. No profit, no newspaper. No newspaper, no more hype, hubris, cant, lies and racism from the paper and Umno.

Truth Seeker: Encik Hata, although I don't read the Utusan , I salute you for your stand. Please be steadfast in your pursuit for freedom of expression. Truth cannot be buried nor lies and falsehood can hold water. Bravo!

M'sia1st: Happy birthday Saudara Hata, we have great respect for what you have done. Keep it up. Our prayers are always with people like you. This sacking is expected. You should join papers like Harakah or other similar no-nonsense papers.

We need people like you to continue and give strength to our free media, fighting for justice and for the rakyat, and not for the political masters.

Azizi Khan: I think Utusan just proved the Hata Wahari case by sacking him. Utusan serves Umno and only Umno. Utusan does not serve Malays in any way, especially Malays with common sense.

Utusan is Umno's hell hound to unleash racism to advance their agenda. Hata Wahari was just calling a spade exactly that - a spade.

Onyourtoes: Mr Hata, report to Industrial court and claim constructive dismissal. Alternatively, sue them, claim bias and not being given a fair hearing. Better still, stand for election and become an MP.

Hata leads nasi lemak 'protest' at Utusan office

Constitutional Pendatang: Many happy returns, brother. From my perspective, your comments on Utusan were not that unfair as to warrant dismissal. I would sue for wrongful dismissal if I were you so that, win or lose, the public may know the skewed policy of the paper. Free legal help available if required.

Cannon: Hata said what he believed is right and he meant what he said. He paid the price for his conviction. May our God of all grace keep Hata and his family in his provision and protection, and vindicate him for his courageous decision to speak out and stand up for truth. May God grant him many more good years that we may celebrate with him many more birthdays!

Lucia: Happy birthday, Hata. Perhaps you can treat this - your dismissal - as a birthday present. It is a blessing as you are now free from the racist paper, free from the grip of the government (since Umno owns the paper).

Start your own paper or join some other non-government owned paper, like Harakah . You will be able to report/comment without fear or favour.

Every Vote Counts: Let us all pledge to buy at least one nasi lemak a week every week until he is reinstated and to encourage five friends to buy nasi lemak from Hata's stall in front of Utusan office.

Singa Pura Pura: Why was the Special Branch officer stationed there at the expense of Malaysian taxpayers? Was there a threat to the security of the country? If so, from whom?

This was a mere response by an employee who believes that he has been dismissed by his employers 'without just cause or excuse'. The event was quiet, peaceful and lawful. Obviously, the employee has been 'victimised' and he should move the minister to refer the dispute to the Industrial Court.

Anonymous_40a7: Hata, you shouldn't have used it to wrap the nasi lemak... now no one will eat it. Such as waste. Better use it as toilet paper, then dump it into a dustbin - that's where Utusan belongs.

Perkasa heading towards extremism, warns DAP

Ghkok: Dangerous. Very dangerous. Moderate Malaysians must voice their concern at this alarming trend. Let the voices of reason, of moderation, of understanding, of unity, of gentleness and politeness, and of empathy, speak loudly to drown out the voices of extremism, fascism and racism.

Let us not fight extremism with extremism. Let us fight extremism with kindness, compassion and detachment. Let us douse the fire of anger and ignite the yearning for peace and unity.

Onyourtoes: What happened to the distributed wealth, why our education is so hopelessly uncompetitive, why so many people are still living from hand to mouth, remain ignorant and forever dependent on government for handouts? Why?

In the past 54 years, who was in control of the government? In the past 54 years, who were prime ministers, deputy prime ministers, ministers in charge of home affairs, defence, rural development, education, the central bank, finance, and trade? Where did all the goodies go? How come, after so many years, the Malays in particular are still left behind in everything? Who are responsible for their poor achievements?

Fellow Malaysians, please allow more competent and honest people to manage this country. Race does not matter. As the majority in this country, the Malays have lots of safeguards - from police, army to civil service.

Nobody can take away your rights. What rights do you have now, anyway? What we need is less corruption and better management of this country and everybody will have better life.
