EC plays 'hide and seek' with clone voters

vox populi small thumbnail 'Shouldn't there be a reliable and foolproof system in the first place? A royal commission of inquiry might be necessary to clear any doubts.'

Missing 'clone' voters puzzles PAS

Kosongcafe: From reports of discrepancies and subsequent removal by the Election Commission (EC) or National Registration Department (NRD), I am sure that public confidence in both computer systems must be at a new low.

Instead of having reliable data, we have unreliable data being found now and again, and the relevant departments doing 'fire fighting' to dispose of whatever errors pointed out. How could we continue to accept this state of affairs?

Shouldn't there be reliable and foolproof systems in the first place? A royal commission of inquiry might be necessary to clear any doubts, as well as to prepare for automatic registration of voters when they come of age.

Anonymous_3da6: If the EC can make them disappear so fast, they can also make them re-appear on polling day. And we don't have time to check them.

The whole national database is in shambles. The question is how accurate is it? For one, I don't trust the database is good for polling day. We hear more excuses than actions to rectify the errors.

Hello: This is proof that the EC authority is lacking in credibility. And they are having support from the likes of the Umno-controlled media by allegedly fake reporting of the authenticity of the voter rolls.

It also looks like there is no checks and balance of the EC and the NRD as they register and delete voters almost at their whim. Their arrogance goes to the extent of not giving a decent and credible explanation for all the queries on their "misdeeds".

Kgen: It could mean that the pairs of ‘clones' supposedly tracked down by Sinar Harian are not genuine but paid actors trying to pull the wool over the public's eyes.

Nil: It could be quite common to have two people with the same name and date of birth but different MyKad numbers. If the names of their mothers are different, they are two different people (not clones).

Perhaps the EC was too impulsive and removed one of the names from the rolls without further investigation. If the mothers' names are the same, then further investigations will be needed.

NoCorruption: Someone needs to log on to the EC database to delete the data. This should be easily traceable.

If PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) can trace people who spread lies on Internet and bring them to court, don't tell me they can't trace this simple act.

Disgusted: The immigration records of Altantuya Shaariibuu and her cousin's entry into the country went missing in the Abdul Razak Baginda's case, and now phantoms from NRD and EC records go missing after being highlighted.

It's all a magic show by the EC - now you see it and now you don't. What a mockery of electoral rolls the EC has made. Bersih 3.0 is definitely needed to bring pressure on the EC and its master, the BN.

Indon Planter: The EC is akin to children "main masak-masak" - inserting, deleting, re-inserting voters at their convenience. Just a few keystrokes, these phantom voters can reappear in the electoral roll on the eve of GE.

Zz2XX: You can't blame them as Bolehland is a country made up of very gifted magicians, from missing immigration records to missing names in the electoral roll.

2CTS WORTH: The EC is playing hide and seek - you find the clones, we hide them.

Time for a royal commission on NRD, too

Not Confused: What a complete and utter shambles. I'm a foreigner and find it quite entertaining sitting on the sidelines and watching this corrupt government and its subservient civil servants running around like headless chickens.

I just pity the rakyat who have not yet woken up to what is clear to many of us exactly what has been going on for the past 50 years.

Darrel Damian: I don't think they will ever approve a royal commission on this.

PAS: More than 10,000 'fake voters' taken off polls roll

Tkc: While we are all focused on the integrity of the electoral roll, let me digress by pointing out the potential consequences of changing the information in the NRD database at the whims and fancies of NRD officers without proper control mechanisms being put in place.

The Agency Link-up System (Alis) is not only used by the EC for the purpose of gazetting the electoral roll, but it is also used by the other government agencies, e.g. law enforcement bodies such as PDRM or Immigration.

If the NRD database is compromised, we might have undesirable situations whereby the police or immigration officers could let an illegal alien go free when they should have arrested him/her, or horrors, arrest a citizen of Malaysia who is mistaken for an illegal alien because his/her name has been inadvertently deleted from the database.

NRD, we beg you not to muck around our citizens' database please.

Ferdtan: With the cleaning up of the thousands of proven 'fake voters' from the electoral rolls, the chances of the BN winning the coming general election have diminished. Compounding the problem, many more illegal voters' registrations are put on hold due to the vigilance of the Pakatan Rakyat parties.

Is that the reason why Dr Mahathir Mohamad is of the opinion that the election should be held later, and not sooner? Is he privy to something important - with regard to  the BN election plan that may affect the outcome of the election?

Not too long ago before the discovery of the many 'fake voters' and the loud outcries from the Pakatan leaders, Najib was seemingly confident - exhorting his BN members to be prepared, saying the election is near.

Fear God Not Man: Those who are responsible for the registration of "fake voters" must be held responsible and answer to the public and punished.
