Pointless to argue with Perkasa thugs

YOURSAY 'No matter how good your reasons are, those guys are blind to them. It will be better talking to walls than  to these numbskulls.'

Rev Eu zips mouth to avoid muddying waters

Sapphire: I am glad Reverend Eu Hong Seng has decided to withdraw his clarification as his statement itself was clear enough.

And he needn't need to respond to illiterate and mischievous individuals like DPM Muhyiddin Yassin and Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali who are deliberately trying to instigate and mislead their unthinking supporters into rage and, possibly, violence.

It is clear Perkasa is merely doing Umno's dirty work. GE13 is a fight against evil, greed, corruption of the soul, violence and lies  represented by Umno and its vassal parties in BN.

Kingfisher: Rev Eu's statement about bullying of the minority is rightly judgmental and does reflect certain unfortunate aspects of the overall social discourse in multiracial Malaysia.

One has to only dredge up relevant references to warnings and threats as reported in the media over the last couple of years to get a perception of this reality.

Unlike many community and religious leaders who have chosen to remain silent, the pastor has spoken out. But he did not cast any aspersion on the constitutional provisions relating to Malay rights.

Louis: Rev Eu, you are very wise to avoid the debate. No matter how good your reasons are, those guys are blind to them. It will be better talking to walls than engaging in war of words with these numbskulls.

Mengxiang: You farm a piece of land for decades on TOL (temporary occupation licence). You apply for that piece of land again and again and you are turned down every time because you are not a Malay. I call that bullying.

I started a company using my own hard-earned money and built it up through sheer hard work, sweat and tears. They tell me I have to surrender 30% of the business to a Malay under threat of revocation of my licence. I call that bullying.

I faithfully go to church to worship my God and they accuse my church of attempting to Christianise the country with no proof whatsoever. I call that bullying.

Cannon: Rev Eu of the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) has clearly indicated his view with regard to the implementation of Article 153 by the Umno-BN regime and has stood by his statement. That is good enough to inform NECF members of its stand.

Blind Freddo: I have long held the opinion that Umno is not remotely interested in the welfare and salvation of Muslims.

All they are interested in is control and repression. This is a classic case of how Umno leaders ignore the important aspects of Muslim society.

Here is a perfect opportunity for the leaders of Islam to decry the un-Islamic behaviour of Ibrahim Ali and Muhyiddin and to point out why and how it is wrong.

But all we get is a deathly silence, resulting in young Muslims going away thinking that this sort of behaviour is perfectly okay. It's no wonder that the standards of this country are at an all-time low.

Kee Thuan Chye: How can Muhyiddin tell the people to stop debating Article 153? Who is he to shut us up? Who is he to deny us our freedom of expression? Our freedom to think and discuss? Is this what is meant by PM Najib Razak's idea of having Malaysia "the best democracy in the world"?

The reason we have come to this deplorable state as a people and as a nation is that we have for too long been told to shut up and not discuss. And we stupidly obeyed.

That time is over. It is Muhyiddin who needs to shut up if he feels he wants to say something like that again.

Armageddon: Reverend Eu should lodge a police report against Ibrahim for continuously misleading the public that he had uttered a seditious remark over Article 153. Someone need to shut Ibrahim up once and for all for inciting racial tension.

Nik V: We want Ibrahim Ali and his minions charged for sedition. He is an instigator and provoker of issues involving race and religion. The rakyat want to live in peace and harmony.

Umno-MCA-MIC will continue to lose more and more voters and harden the hearts, minds and resolve of the intelligent and moderate Malaysians.

As long as BN fails to defend the rights of all Malaysians especially when they continue not to speak up or charge the minority bigots within Perkasa and even the DPM, who claims to speak on the behalf of the peace-loving majority, we, the rakyat of Malaysia will hire a new and better government.

Mr KJ John: Truth spoken can only be understood by those who seek to understand. Rev Hong Seng, you are a pastor and need not get engaged to review or defend truths.

Let the politicians do that. You have spoken on behalf of all evangelical Christians. More than enough said. Well done.

Trumpet Call: It is becoming increasingly evident that the ultras among the Malays are getting more sensitive to any dissent in the way they interpret the implementation of the law, especially in relation to their privileges as the dominant race.

It has now come to the point of being absurd in their reactions to the slightest challenge, even though the challenge carries a lot of truth to it.

Malaysia is slowly degenerating into a fanatical Islamic totalitarian regime, fueled by extremists who are hell-bent on suppressing minorities.

Bluemountains: Rev Eu has adopted the right strategy. Just don't give them any importance. But let's show them that we are the real boss at the ballot box.
