Curtin, it's best to withdraw Rosmah's award

VOXPOP 'This is what will happen when you are not careful in conferring honorary doctorate award to someone who is not deserving.'

Curtin suspends Rosmah's doctorate comments on FB

vox populi small thumbnail Cala: When Curtin University continues to receive criticism on its Facebook page over its conferment of honorary doctorate on Rosmah Mansor, it shows that the said institution has done something wrong.

The correct thing to do hence is to review its action by withdrawing the title.

To pretend that everything is under control exposes its own weakness further for it shows that it is not capable to differentiate between right and wrong.

Please think for a moment, why should ordinary people protest if it is correctly done?

Zainal: It is just an honorary doctorate. Why all the negative comments? Or, do we really hate her?

Jiminy Qrikert: Zainal, an honorary doctorate is for someone who has made significant contribution to the society that benefits the people.

Curtin has given a doctorate to an individual who knows no bounds in spending the rakyat's money for her own utterly selfish needs.

Shopping sprees where RM250,000-RM300,000 is splurged in obscene extravagance while her husband, PM Najib Razak, calls on Malaysians to tighten our belts in face of pending withdrawal of subsidies and the introduction of GST (Goods and Services Tax) is disgusting and despicable.

And to sneer at the rakyat's call to explain the RM24 million ring with an outrageously ridiculous story of having saved from a tender age is simply a downright insult and a challenge thrown in the face of the rakyat that she is untouchable.

From now onwards, Curtin can only look forward to students on government scholarships. They fail to understand the extent of hatred the Malaysian people have for Rosmah, and they fail to see that the Malaysian Chinese no longer trust nor respect Najib.

They must realise Curtin is now sitgmatised - those who graduated from Curtin are made the butt of jokes. Those who are in Curtin cringe in shame. And those who are looking to further their studies will now ask if they should go to Curtin.

Louis: Rosmah, can you do Curtin and her alumni a favour? Just return the degree and save the agony that Curtin and its graduates are going through.

Ferdtan: This is what will happen to any university, even to a foreign-owned, when you are not careful in conferring honorary doctorate award to someone who is not deserving.

Such groveling to the wife of a PM from the directors of the supposedly reputable university leaves a bad taste. The reputation of Curtin has certainly been irreparably damaged.

Armageddon: I always thought Australia practices freedom of speech. Or is it only Curtin University which does not?

Release 1Care details now, Teo tells Liow

Podeh: Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai is just parroting what he is paid to do by Umno. His concerns that critics are manipulating and confusing the public with "unwarranted and misplaced" details speaks volumes about his ignorance.

Basically he, as the health minister, has no idea what's going on in the first place. Common sense should tell him that with so many critics across the board, something in the mandatory 1Care health insurance scheme must be really wrong.

The first question that comes to an ordinary person's mind is "Is this another scam?" or "Are we going to be conned again?"

Clever Voter: This is a scam. Public healthcare falls short of the standards demanded by the public. That also explains the growth of private sector healthcare. The way public sector spending has been going on, it is not a surprise the taxpayers are up in arms.

Why should we pay for poor services when it is our health that's at risk?

NuckinFuts: Don't let the future of our healthcare go down the same ‘Official Secrets Act' path as toll concessionaires. The sick are going to end up paying more just for the right to step into a government hospital.

Ksn: Very good call, DAP MP Teo Nie Ching. The ball is at the minister's door steps to disclose full details. If he not ready for that, it is to be assumed that the entire scheme is meant to fleece the people of Malaysia for the benefit of a few cronies.

A lot of pertinent questions have been asked on the subject by many quarters for the minister and his ministry to answer and clarify.

If there is nothing to hide and if the project is meant for the benefit of the people and it is good for the country, why hesitate, why be reluctant, why hide, why talk in codes and make no sense?

Good Men: Liow, the easiest way to debunk conspiracy theories would be transparency, but your bosses in Umno wouldn't know what that means.

Now how many posts do you have to clock up here before you get paid?

For A Better Malaysia: BN has being talking of a health plan since 1981 but still no clue on what to do. It's time for a new government.
