Higher education minister 'condones' violence

VOXPOP 'Khaled should have condemned the violence and thuggery, rather than insinuate that the students asked for it.'

Khaled: My tweet was not meant to be crass

vox populi small thumbnail 1: Higher Education Minister Khaled Nordin is a typical Umno leader. He means if Umno thugs attack peaceful the ‘Occupy Dataran' student protesters, then serves them right.

There is nothing strange in that. It shows the quality and humanity, or lack of both, in Umno ministers.

Students, let's work to put Khaled in the opposition in GE13. He is not fit to represent Malaysians in any capacity.

Good Men : Khaled should have condemned the violence and thuggery, rather than insinuate that the students asked for it. This is a clear message to the thugs that it was okay to beat up the students. The minister was indeed encouraging the thugs to do it again.

Wira: Obviously the higher education minister has little interest in the well-being of those students, hence the Freudian slip. Umno top dogs just wish the problem would go away.

So perhaps their outsourced partners, like the cronies and front men of the corrupt, did them that little favour.

Anonymous #18452573: The tweet message was crass and thoughtless, especially coming from a person in your position.

In the rest of the civilised world, citizens expect their leaders to behave like statesmen. But in Malaysia, these are the arrogant and poor quality leaders we have to deal with until Malaysians learn to stand together and vote out this regime.

Anonymous_410a: Hello minister, the first lesson is that a ‘summary' must deliver the key points of the passage or paragraph being summarised.

That said, whatever lengthy explanations you might have, the main message is still your tweet. And your tweet is sarcastic, rude and shows how irresponsible you are.

Disbeliever: Khaled, please don't twist and turn what you tweeted. And please don't use the excuse of having to tweet within the 140 characters that made you wrote:

"No one asked them to camp out at Dataran Merdeka. When something happens, don't go asking for sympathy."

Even your earlier statement asking the PTPTN (Higher Education Loan Fund) borrowers to return their loans if they are not happy is already itself a sign of arrogance on your part.

You and all the Umno-BN politicians are indeed arrogant having ruled Malaysia for more than 50 years.

Vote Opposition: Khaled, so do you suggest that if we were outside jalan-jalan (taking a walk) and suddenly we were attacked, it was our pasal (fault) and you will respond in the same manner, "Siapa suruh keluar jalan-jalan."

Everyday420: Khaled said, "No one condones violence". Bulls**t. Your negligence and inaction alone condones this type of violence.

And students do not "have to" evaluate the risk of assembling peacefully, of expressing their opinions and making demands, because that is their prerogative.

To ask us to evaluate the risk is to ask us to be prepared to be attacked. This pretty much sets the tone for future assemblies. Thanks for the heads up.

When are you stepping down? Because my dog can do a better job than you.

'Current minister more keen on car plate numbers'

Paul Warren: Former transport minister Ong Tee Keat (OTK), you cannot be a good guy and also be a MCA minister at the same time.

As minister, you got to ensure all the holes remain wide open. You plugged the holes. This is inconsistent with the role of an Umno or BN minister.

That is why you got sacked. Now don't grumble if you don't have a job.

Anonymous #13114320: Now we know why OTK was kicked out of the MCA presidency. All other MCA members who didn't vote for OTK were only interested in MCA number plates and were corrupted in nature.

That's why they needed anyone else but OTK to be party president. And definitely someone really wanted him out so badly that they had to remove and silence him so that the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) issue will not be investigated further.

Now even the clean MCA members have become dirty because more than half of the committees and their members are not clean.

Cloudnine: PKFZ is actually quite a simple industrial estate development. Why did it incur so many problems, especially with money issues?

The acreage is not that big, and the plans are ordinary. Any mid-size developer could have got the whole place running in no time.

Instead, it is mired in deep controversy and billions of losses to the government. This is ridiculous.

Gordon Gecko: Transport Minister Kong Cho Ha, the hot number plates from Malacca for your colleagues after the next election - MCA4, MCA44, MCA444, MCA4444.
