Let's raise funds to help Zahid go to Paris

YOURSAY 'Suaram, I suggest that you pass the hat around and collect contributions from the rakyat to sponsor Ahmad Zahid's trip to Paris.'

Defence minister snubs French Scorpene inquiry

your say Trueglitter: When the integrity of the nation, particularly of PM Najib Razak, is on the line over widely publicised allegations of scandals and corruption involving multi-million ringgit in kickbacks and the gruesome murder of a Mongolian national, the refusal by Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to attend the court hearing in Paris as Suaram's witness will only further cloud the issue and inevitably subject our country and the PM to ridicule.

The defence minister has in fact made a mockery of himself and the ministerial position he has been elected to by being ludicrously childish in citing his reasons for his about-turn when he has been ardently boastful in his initial perceived defence of his political master, Najib.

The Suaram team is to be applauded for being so deeply committed and focused in their determination to pursue justice and restore honour and dignity to our nation in the face of rampant corruption by the powers-that-be.

AkuDahUbah: So our defence minister is taking the easy way out, citing of all things the need to be prudent with public funds.

I nearly fell off my chair and choked on my breakfast! Wasn't he the one who loudly proclaimed he would be attending and defending the honour of our nation and our leader who was accused of corruption.

What leadership by example - when it comes to the crunch, he crumples without so much of a whimper. How pathetic!

Hmmmmmmmm: Ahmad Zahid's refusal to go to Paris shows how much confidence he has in the PM's story. If he wholeheartedly believes the PM is clean, I bet he'll even volunteer to be a witness even if his name is not there.

I think there is a Malay saying for this - ‘berani kerana benar'. Now that we know his character, don't be surprised that he'll be the first to run if ever this country is being attacked, defence minister or not.

Tholu: Suaram, I suggest that you pass the hat around and collect contributions from the rakyat to sponsor Ahmad Zahidi's trip to Paris.

I think all we would need is contribution from a minute fraction of Malaysiakini's visitors to easily meet his travel, lodging and sustenance allowance.

If only just 2,000 people were to contribute RM50 each, we can collect RM100,000, which should be more than enough. I pledge RM10, and I am not joking.

Kairos: Zahid Hamidi fails to realise that if the public is satisfied with the Defence Ministry's explanation of the Scorpene purchase, then there is no need for any enquiry.

The fact is there is a lot of gaps in the explanation that do not hold water. The case for corruption is very strong and not only are some top people profiting big time from the deal, an innocent Mongolian's life is brutally sacrificed.

The public will not, and cannot, rest until we get to the bottom of this.

With or without Zahid Hamidi, I believe the truth will be revealed. All the authorities need to do is to present evidence to show that our top Malaysian leaders are linked to the Scorpene scandal. The evidence can easily come from the French side.

Also all we need is just one solid evidence that the PM was indeed in contact with Altantuya Shaariibuu, and the case is blown wide open and Najib is discredited.

If I were him, I would be spending sleepless nights thinking of what may be revealed. The timing of the enquiry is just perfect.

Bender: Zahid, since when did you refuse to use government's money? If you don't want to use your own money, we all understand perfectly because all these while, you and the likes of you never touch your own money, it's always government money.

And now, you don't want to use government money? Why?

Ksn: Defence minister, you can snub the French court all you want. Who cares? As to expenses, if you are called as a witness, being a minister, the government will and should bear the expenses as you will be representing the government.

As to being economical with public funds, please do not make Malaysians laugh as your government's austerity is well-known.

Lim Chong Leong: Zahid did say last year he was going to cooperate fully with the French inquest and he even volunteered to be a witness.

I remember because we lambasted him for volunteering - after all, he was not really a witness to the deal but the then defence minister Najib was.

Jedi_Who: Zahid Hamidi has admitted guilt by default. Why do we have a coward serving the Defence Ministry? He is a bad example to the thousands of soldiers that serve our country.

Truth Finder: Ahmad Zahid is an ungrateful minister. Najib by now should know who his friends and his enemies are.

As such, Zahid's name will not going to be listed as ‘winnable candidate'. Zahid if at all he decides to go to attend the French inquiry should and can only tell the truth, and this to him is alien or remote.

He was brought up to talk only cock and bull, so how is he going to tell the truth now?

Free And Fair Election: It's not about the funds of getting you to France. If you and Najib are willing, I am sure the public can collect enough money to send not just the two of you there.

We will buy Rosmah Mansor's ticket as well. But it will be an economy class ticket. That way, you can claim you get three tickets for the price of two.
