Felda, you can't create something out of nothing

YOURSAY ‘So if you have chosen to give so much away before the listing, what then is the worth of the company after the listing?'

Najib announces RM15,000 for every Felda household

your say Onyourtoes: Prime Minister Najib Razak, you have continued to work based on certain stupid assumptions:

1. The people are stupid and ignorant.

2. Money can buy everything.

3. You can create something out of nothing.

If it is real wealth that you are distributing, my simple question to you is: does it matter you distribute the windfall with or without listing?

If you can distribute so much away after the listing, why can't you give a windfall without listing.

Since you have chosen to give so much away before the listing, what then is the worth of the company after the listing?

Please explain to me the unlocking of assets clearly; you can't create something out of nothing, that is what Wall Street did and the consequences are there for everyone to see.

There is no unlocking, you are stripping and minuting the assets of the company.

Wira: I have several questions:

1. FGVH has yet to be listed. However, the money to be distributed is already being announced. Where is that money coming from?

2. The company takes ownership of the land, plantations and all assets from the cooperative. Why must the settlers apply for shares in the new company? Why not use the RM15,000 and give them shares instead?

3. Previously, the cooperative gave annual dividends to stakeholders who are members of the cooperative. That will disappear. Dividends from profits, if any, may be paid instead.

The RM1.5 billion profit is a wishful projection. The company may turn out to be another Malaysian Airlines (MAS) with plenty of headaches for the new government.

Cloudnine: If Felda settlers had never protested, Najib would never have promised money. The problem is that this RM15,000 is a lot of money to the settlers but it also goes away very fast.

If the settlers keep their land, their production will last forever. Every month they will be able to reap a handsome amount from their palm oil. So why bother?

After paying out RM1.7 billion, do you think the new company FGVH (Felda Global Ventures Holdings) will still have money to declare next year's dividend? After taking this first RM15,000, the settlers will be left high and dry. Mark my words.

Furthermore, the payments are in three tranches - RM5,000 each time to husband, wife and children. This is highly suspicious when the government has to micro-manage.

Why should the government distribute to the husband, wife and children? You don't trust the husband to manage? Can you trust the children better than their father? This is strange, very strange.

REDHantu: Wow, did he pawn the ring that his wife bought and for which he never paid tax?

Hmmmmmmmm: Thank you very much Pakatan Rakyat, for forcing BN's hand. Without your help, we would never even get to dream of getting a single sen from the government. Now we get goodies everywhere.

Artchan: I can tell Najib, even if he stands at the door at the voting station and gives every voter that walks through the door RM500, he will still not win. Unless it is his money, but then all his money is stolen from the rakyat.

Amigo2010: Whose offers are better, Pakatan's or BN's?

Pakatan offers free North-South Expressway usage without toll (instead of benefitting Umno cronies), free TV viewing with more than 100 channels worldwide after an initial or one-time payment of RM2,000 for registration and aerial (instead of Astro, where you have pay more if you want extras yet get repeat programmes), free WiFi (instead of paying Umno crony companies), collection of taxes and pay back to taxpayers (instead of ‘you help me, I help you', but in the end ‘you help me, I help myself'.

Think, brother and sister voters.

Disbeliever: The most corrupted PM ever - buying votes (which of course he will deny) by giving out money as if he were an automated teller machine (ATM).

This is indeed the sign of a desperate man, a drowning man who would cling on even to a fragile straw.

The PM knows he has to win the 13th general election (GE) at all costs otherwise he and all the other corrupt ministers - past and present - will be dragged to court.

Father and son: Now all the settlers own is a piece of A4 size paper with which they unknowingly gave away their land.

How can the settlers understand about the stock market when even the most seasoned players get roasted when there is a downturn. Best of luck to you guys.

Malaysia ABU: RM15,000 for the rights of your land that you have toiled for 20 to 30 years? You let go the rights and just get RM15,000?

It is ‘durian runtuh' for the people that actually control the listed company, not the petty shareholders (Felda settlers).

Those who control the listed company can get how much (via legal and siphoning means, etc)? Maybe RM1.6 billion per person, and settlers get RM1.6 billion per 112,000 settlers.

Doc: Settlers get RM15,000 for each household. Umno gets RM1 billion and Najib gets RM1 billion. After that, Felda ‘lingkop' (close shop).

Anonymous #43051382: Koperasi Felda now holds a 51% shares in Felda Holdings and thus able to give good dividends yearly to the settlers.

After listing, Koperasi Felda owns just a minority shares in FGVH of just over 30%. With minority control, how can Koperasi Felda guarantees yearly good dividends to its members?

Hacks: RM15,000 per household is called a windfall. Then what would you call RM3 billion per person? Thunderstorm fall? Hurricane fall? Typhoon fall? Or BN fall?
